Combat team selection — Stage I fitness test (sprawdzian fizyczny)
Stage I of selection to GROM’s combat teams is a fitness test drawn from 14 events, of which the instructor picks 8 on the day. The minimums are only the entry bar: candidates with better results are considered first, and selection can be attempted twice. After the fitness test come psychological assessment, a language test and a multi-day field test in the mountains with no published standards.

Rates from the 2026 pay regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 212, applied from 1 Jan 2026) and the consolidated allowances regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 611); allowances are multiples of a fixed 1,500 zł. Pay depends on the pay group of the post, not on personal rank, and actual GROM posts are not public. The ranges are the statutory brackets set by the commander; the default is a staff sergeant with 8 years of service, 4 of them in GROM. Only the highest special allowance is paid, so parachute and diving allowances are absorbed by the counter-terrorism allowance.

Also required
- Polish citizenship, a clean criminal record, a security clearance or consent to the vetting procedure, fitness for service in airborne assault units, a working knowledge of a foreign language and at least secondary education. Candidates come from active and reserve soldiers and officers of other services; the unit’s page gives no age limit.
- Stage I has 14 events; besides the 11 scored here there are a tower jump into water and hand-to-hand combat (both pass/fail) and an Agility Test listed with the limit “16'19"”. The instructor chooses 8 of the 14 on the day, so every event should be trained.
- Stage II: psychological assessment. Stage III: a multi-day field test in the mountains and a language test (English or another declared language). Selection can be attempted twice.

Questions
Why are only 11 of the 14 events in the calculator?
The tower jump and hand-to-hand combat are pass/fail with no number to compare. The Agility Test limit is written as “16'19"” (minutes and seconds), which does not fit a typical agility test measured in seconds, so we leave it out until the unit clarifies it. The rope height is not given on today’s page (the 2020 version said 6 m).
Have the standards changed?
Yes. The 2020 version had 13 events: 200 m in 4:00 (now 4:30), 75 sit-ups (now 80), 40 wall balls (now 38) and a 6 kg ball for the wall (now 8 kg); it also had a backward 4 kg ball throw and a standing long jump, but no Agility Test, 10 × 10 m or hand-to-hand combat. The exact date of the change is not known.
