U.S. Navy SEAL
Physical Screening Test (PST)
The PST is the U.S. Navy's physical screen for SEAL candidates: a 500-yard swim, push-ups, curl-ups, pull-ups and a 1.5-mile run, done as one event in that order with fixed rest periods. Minimum scores are set in MILPERSMAN 1220-410; navy.com also publishes a higher "Elevated" (EPST) standard, and an EPST-level PST within 14 days before shipping may qualify for the EB-SHP bonus.

Questions
Is passing the minimum enough?
The Navy document states that minimum scores are subject to change and advises scoring significantly more than the minimum. Average enlisted candidates (sealswcc.com, 2022) swam 9:30, did 75 push-ups, 75 curl-ups and 15 pull-ups and ran 9:30; average officer candidates: 9:00 / 85 / 85 / 20 / 9:00.
Which swimming stroke is allowed?
MILPERSMAN 1220-410 allows side-stroke or breaststroke. navy.com simplifies this to "combat sidestroke"; the MILPERSMAN rule is binding.
Where do the numbers come from?
Minimums: MILPERSMAN 1220-410, change 77 of 3 December 2021. Elevated (EPST): navy.com, September 2026. Average values: the Naval Special Warfare page sealswcc.com, posted 5 May 2022 (site now redirects to navy.com). Pull-ups have no time limit per MILPERSMAN, even though recruiting tables show 2:00.
