Extended Selection for assault groups — fitness test (Selekcja Rozszerzona)

Candidates for FORMOZA’s assault groups take a two-part test. Part 1 in the water is pass/fail: 25 m underwater, 400 m freestyle within 8:30, a minute afloat with hands and feet tied, treading water holding a dummy rifle, a jump from up to 8 m and climbing out on a caving ladder. Part 2 on land — pull-ups, 10 × 10 m, sit-ups and 3,000 m — is scored with the 2024 Ministry of Defence tables and needs at least 84 points; the unit recommends minimums for each event.

Rates from the 2026 pay regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 212, applied from 1 Jan 2026) and the consolidated allowances regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 611); allowances are multiples of a fixed 1,500 zł. Pay depends on the pay group of the post, not on personal rank (FORMOZA is a naval unit, so a sergeant is a bosman), and actual posts are not public. The default is a sergeant combat diver with 6 years of service, 3–6 of them in the unit; the service allowance range is the statutory bracket set by the commander. Only the higher of the diving and parachute allowances is paid.

Also required

Polish citizenship, a clean criminal record, at least secondary education and no health contraindications; age 19 to 35 for the Extended Selection. Soldiers, reservists, officers of other services and civilians may apply.
Five stages: a questionnaire sent only by Polish Post, the fitness test, psychological assessment, a test in harsh climate and terrain, and an interview. In 2026 the Extended Selection had questionnaires due by 11 September, the fitness test and psychology on 19 September and the field test in the first half of October.
Not in the calculator (pass/fail in the water part): at least 1 min in the water after jumping in with hands and feet tied; at least 1 min treading water holding a dummy rifle above the surface; a jump into water from up to 8 m; climbing out of the water on a caving ladder.

Questions

What are the 84 points?

The land part is scored with the 2024 Ministry of Defence fitness tables (Dz.U. 2024 poz. 396) by age group, up to 100 points, and FORMOZA requires at least 84. The calculator uses the unit’s recommended minimums instead (14 pull-ups, 10 × 10 m in 30.0 s, 70 sit-ups, 3,000 m in 12:30); by our calculation they give 86.8 points in the strictest group (21–25), so they clear 84 with a small margin.

Is there an easier path for other posts?

Yes. The Basic Selection (Selekcja Podstawowa) for the unit’s other posts asks for 15 m underwater and 200 m freestyle within 4:00, plus the same four land events scored with the Ministry of Defence tables at 80 points or more.
