Forsvarets spesialkommando (FSK) — Spesialjeger
Spesialjegeropptak — physical requirements (fysiske krav)

Selection for the Norwegian Armed Forces Special Command (spesialjegeropptak) lasts three weeks in June. Week 1 is physical testing — hang-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, back extensions, the 10-minute Rundeløp course, a 30 km field march with about 28 kg and a 400 m swim — followed by navigation marches with 20–30 kg and group exercises. The published values are fixed minimums with no scoring scale, the same for every applicant.

Norway has had no state pay table since 1 May 2024: pay is agreed individually in kroner. Shown are Forsvaret’s minimum rates from the protocol of 21 Jan 2025, raised along the pay ladder (short: +1.1% a year for 10 years; long: then +0.55% for 6 years) — our calculation; the 2026 agreement abolished central minimums, so they may change. Not included: the 2025 settlement (+1.5% and a fixed amount), the 2026 local negotiations (pool about 2.7%, deadline 31 Oct 2026) and working-time allowances; no public special-forces allowance has been found.

Passing the training gives the right and obligation to a permanent post until age 35 (T35).

Questions

Is there a scoring scale above the minimums?

No. FSK does not use the Forsvaret 1–9 grading scale; it publishes only fixed minimums, and its pages give the same values for all applicants. FSK itself states that following its training programme is no guarantee of passing.

Is there an age limit?

No age limit for admission is published on the Spesialjeger page. Applicants must first complete at least 10 months of initial service, which Forsvaret accepts from 18 to 28 (with exceptions). Graduates are employed on T35, a permanent post until age 35 that can be extended by up to 3 years.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the forsvaret.no page "Spesialjeger" (updated 15 September 2026); the same values appear in FSK's "Treningsprogram for spesialjegeropptak" (PDF, 20 August 2024). The medical criteria come from the FSK document "Spesialjeger helseinformasjon" (May 2025).
