Estonian Special Operations Force (Erioperatsioonide väejuhatus, EOVJ)
KVKT — 60 points per event (entry to EOVJ conscript service)
The Estonian Special Operations Force does not publish standards for its six-day operator selection (Valik): it tests the UBRR and a swim, but states that time standards are not disclosed. The only published threshold is the entry requirement for conscript service in EOVJ: passing the Estonian Defence Forces physical fitness test (Kehaliste võimete kontrolltest, KVKT) with at least 60 points in each event — 2-minute push-ups, 2-minute sit-ups and a 3200 m run. The calculator shows the 60-point values for men aged up to 21.

What an ESTSOF conscript earns
- Supplement for a trip lasting more than 14 days€10 per day
- Supplement during an international military operation€80 per day
Shown is the allowance for conscript service in EOVJ, the path the KVKT threshold above gives access to (Government regulation no. 1 of 3 Jan 2017, rates applied from 4 Feb 2026). The pay of ESTSOF operators, who are professional soldiers, is not public: in Estonia it depends on the post’s pay level (T0–T25), and posts are assigned to levels by a non-public order. Estonian law has no allowance for special forces, parachuting or diving (KVTS § 128(5)).

Also required
- Conscript service in EOVJ: 12 months from 2027, with two intakes (February and August). Entry is decided at a one-day tryout made up of the KVKT and a swimming exercise (the swim standard is not published); next tryouts on 29 Nov 2026 (register by 8 Nov 2026) and 23 May 2027 (register by 25 Apr 2027). Requirements: secondary or vocational secondary education, good fitness and a written application to the Defence Resources Agency (Kaitseressursside Amet) mentioning EOVJ; a category B driving licence is an advantage.
- Operator selection (Valik): six days of continuous assessment with little sleep and no phone or internet. Assessed: physical ability (UBRR test and swim test), English, ability to express oneself in Estonian, map-and-compass navigation, teamwork and mental resilience. Anyone who withdraws cannot apply again; alcohol or substance abuse, gambling and a criminal record are disqualifying. After Valik, service starts with one year that includes a six-month basic course, followed by a contract of up to five years.
- KVKT rules: at least 60 points in each of the three events, out of a maximum of 300 (100 per event). The age group is set by year of birth; women have their own push-up and run tables, while the sit-up table is the same for both sexes. Candidates and conscripts must always run — the swimming, cycling and rowing alternatives are only for serving soldiers. A result stays valid for 180 days.

Questions
Why aren’t the operator selection standards shown?
Because ESTSOF does not publish them: its Valik page states that the exact assessment criteria and time standards are not disclosed. Physical ability at Valik is measured with the UBRR (Upper Body Round Robin) test and a swim test, which the unit describes as harder than the standard Defence Forces test. ESTSOF also cites a 2022 Estonian Military Academy study: candidates who pass the UBRR are more likely to complete Valik, and from 1200 UBRR points the chance rises sharply. Passing the KVKT is therefore a starting point, not a guarantee.
Do the KVKT thresholds depend on age and sex?
Yes. The tables have ten age groups and separate push-up and run tables for men and women. The calculator uses men up to 21: 40 push-ups, 46 sit-ups and 3200 m in 15:54. For men aged 22–26 the 60-point values are 38, 48 and 16:36; for women up to 21 they are 18 push-ups, 46 sit-ups and 18:54. For 100 points, men up to 21 need 69 push-ups, 76 sit-ups and 13:00.
Where do the numbers come from?
From "Kehaliste võimete kontrolltesti eeskiri ja normatiivid", the KVKT rules and score tables approved by order of the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces of 11 September 2025 (no. 0.1-3.1/25/36, published on mil.ee in September 2026), and from the ESTSOF pages "Ajateenistus" (updated 6 October 2026) and "Valik" (updated 13 May 2026), read on 18 October 2026.
