Questions

How does the A-E test series work, and are the minimums enough?

The five exercises are done one after another for maximum repetitions in a set time, with 1 minute of rest between them; the 2,400 m run starts 60 s after the last one. The times (60 or 120 s) come from the 2022 brochure, as the 2027 limits do not list them. Results are graded on a points system whose table is not public, and the course ends with a best-candidate selection (Bestenauswahl), so the minimums only keep you in the running.

Has the test changed in recent years?

Yes. The 2022 brochure also listed a 30 m rope traverse (Bärenhang), an obstacle course under 5:10 and a 10 m jump into water on command. The 2025 limits still had the rope traverse and the obstacle course; the 2027 limits drop both. The march, the 300 m swim and the A-E minimums are unchanged. Since the 2026 selection, (combat) supporters no longer do the A-E series but a military-specific test (MST) at profile A or B.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the official "Sportliche Limits AWV Jagdkommando 2027" PDF on karriere.bundesheer.at (last modified 5 June 2026). The exercise times in the A-E series come from the Bundesheer brochure "Jagdkommando – Austrian SOF" (November 2022). All sources were checked on 18 October 2026. The published limits read "under"; the calculator treats the exact value as the limit.
